On the occasion of Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ recent release of ‘Marcel Duchamp,’ we joined writer and curator Helen Molesworth, and Los Angeles based artists Harry Dodge and Cauleen Smith for an exciting talk about the landmark publication, as well as the life and work of Marcel Duchamp. In addition, the event commenced with a live reading of Duchamp's ‘The Creative Act’ by filmmaker, artist and writer Miranda July.
‘Marcel Duchamp’ became the go-to book on the artist for many decades following its publication in late 1959, when exclusive grand-deluxe and deluxe editions in French, along with trade editions in French and English, were simultaneously released. While Trianon Press’s French trade edition was reprinted numerous times, the Grove Press English edition languished out of print for the better part of two generations – until now, with Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ fully authorized facsimile re-edition, selected by the New York Times as one of the best art books of 2021.
This event is free, however, due to limited capacity seating will be first come first served. Reservations and proof of vaccination upon arrival are required.
