Discover our free, drop-in talks exploring the work featured in our traveling exhibition, ‘The New Bend,’ curated by Legacy Russell, led by members of our gallery team.
The exhibition brings together 12 contemporary artists working in the raced, classed and gendered traditions of quilting and textile practice. The works are in dialogue with, and in homage to, the contributions of the Gee’s Bend Alabama quilters — Black American women in collective cooperation and creative economic production — and their enduring legacy.
Taking place every Sunday until 7 May in the Threshing Barn and Pigsty galleries, these talks are open to all, with no advance booking necessary. Please check in at front desk upon arrival.
‘The New Bend’ is on view at Hauser & Wirth Somerset until Monday 8 May 2023.
