Join us for an evening of jazz in celebration of our Verena Loewensberg exhibition at Hauser & Wirth London and in collaboration with Spiritland.

Inspired by Verena Loewensberg’s record shop in Zurich (1960 - 1968)—that became legendary among aficionados of jazz and avant-garde music—listen to the artist’s favourite music alongside viewing her work with exclusive after-hours access to the exhibition.

Spiritland’s founder Paul Noble and jazz authority Tony Higgins will be on the decks playing classic and new jazz vinyl in the gallery throughout the evening, on a unique vintage horn-loaded sound system. Complimentary drinks will be served upon arrival.

This is a free, drop-in event, but we ask that you register in advance so we can understand visitor numbers.

About Verena Loewensberg
Swiss artist Verena Loewensberg (1912 – 1986) was a leading figure within the influential Zurich school of concrete artists. She was also the only female member of the group, which included Max Bill, Camille Graeser and Richard Paul Lohse.

Hauser & Wirth presents the gallery’s first solo exhibition in the UK dedicated to this singular 20th-Century figure, featuring striking paintings from the 1960s to 1980s in which Loewensberg broke from the strictures of concrete art. The exhibition is organized with Henriette Coray Loewensberg, president of the Verena Loewensberg Foundation, with the support of Lionel Bovier, vice president of the Foundation and director of MAMCO in Geneva, Switzerland.

About Spiritland
Spiritland is a space for music lovers—a café, bar and radio studio in King’s Cross, London, UK and a recently opened outpost in Lisbon, Portugal, all built around a deep love of music and the culture that surrounds it. These venues were born from a desire to engage with music in the deepest possible way—to hear it as the artist intended, to connect with the emotions within, with food and drink to match.

Photographs will be taken at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
