The panel conversation ‘Art & design in dialog - the producer a as creative partner’ highlights the dynamic relationship between art and design from the perspective of artists, curators and producers. The speakers will discuss examples such as the collaboration between Max Bill and Rudolf Lehni's sheet metal workshop in the early 20th Century through to later projects by internationally acclaimed artists like Sol LeWitt and Donald Judd with the now leading Swiss metal furniture manufacturer Lehni.
Donald Judd's unique furniture series, which is still exclusively produced by Lehni today, shows how closely art and design are interlinked. These partnerships not only strengthen the role of the producer as a creative partner but also as an important mediator in the creative process.
This panel conversation invites you to discover the developments from the 1930s to the 1980s and 1990s, to gain insights into artists' attitudes towards design and to explore the exciting interplay between art, design and production in the Swiss cultural landscape.
