Partnering with Bristol Old Vic Theatre, Hauser & Wirth Somerset is delighted to host the hugely successful Bristol Old Vic youth summer school again this August. This is an incredible opportunity for young people interested in drama and performing arts to work with professional directors to create an original piece of theatre. In collaboration with professionals at Bristol Old Vic Theatre, this year’s course participants will be asked to devise a new play told through movement, music and theatre. They will take Martin Creed’s exhibition ‘What You Find’ as their starting point and will explore the theme of ‘connection in the modern world’, dissecting the idea of what it means to be yourself, to not be yourself, or to try to be someone else. The school culminates in a public performance on Thursday 11 August 2016, set within the grounds at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. The workshop will run on weekdays 1 – 11 August 2016, 10 am – 5 pm daily, and is available to young people aged 11 – 19 years. This is a subsidised event and tickets are £120 for the full course. We ask that all children are delivered to the gallery and picked up by a responsible adult, please let us know if you wish your child to travel to and from the gallery on their own. Children should bring a packed lunch, snacks and drinks as necessary. ‘If you’re lonely, If you’re sad, If you’re lovely, If you’re mad, Then this is for you.’ – Martin Creed, Work No. 470, 2005 © Martin Creed 2005 Click here to purchase tickets for the final performance on Thursday 11 August 2016.
