Hauser & Wirth Somerset invites families into the gallery for Family Saturdays on the first Saturday of every month. These free sessions offer families a unique experience of art, design and nature. This special event, in collaboration with THE BIG DRAW, invites children and their families to take part in drawing activities where we will provide a direct interpretation of this year’s Big Draw theme: ‘The STEAM Powered Big Draw Festival’. Bringing together Science, Technology, Art, Engineering and Maths to the work of artist Louise Bourgeois. Families are invited to join the world’s biggest drawing festival; draw, doodle, sketch, paint or just make marks with meaning, as we celebrate the diverse language of drawing and appreciate the visual world around us. The Big Draw is the world’s biggest drawing festival with thousands of drawing activities connecting people of all ages with museums, outdoor spaces, artists, designers, illustrators – and each other. The 2015 Big Draw involved 1000+ organisers on seven continents, engaging around 400,000 people in the theme ‘Every Drawing Tells a Story’. The Big Draw 2016 takes place 1 – 31 October at various locations internationally. For our Big Draw event we will run two sessions; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The sessions are aimed at families with children aged 6 – 14 years, however younger children are welcome if supervised by parents / carers. This is a free event, however in order to avoid disappointment advanced booking is recommended To book a place please email somerset@hauserwirth.com or call +44 1749 81 4060 Please arrive at reception at 10 am or 2 pm and ensure you are dressed appropriately for exploring the many ways of drawing
