Hauser & Wirth Somerset, in collaboration with the Roth Bar & Grill, is delighted to present ‘Open Source Salon’ – a discussion group for like-minded creatives and enthusiasts who meet monthly to exchange ideas, hear special guest speakers, and enjoy local food and drink. Each salon consists of a specially invited speaker who will share their unique knowledge and experience on one of the four key themes at the heart of Hauser & Wirth Somerset – Art, Architecture, Landscape, Food. On Wednesday 25 January, we are pleased to welcome artists Matthew Collings and Emma Biggs, who have been collaborating since 2001. Matthew, also a celebrated art critic writer and broadcaster, studied painting at Byam Shaw Art School and Goldsmith’s College, and Emma studied Fine Art at Leeds University. A mosaicist and artist, she leads courses at West Dean College that explore the role of mosaics in contemporary art. For Open Source Salon, Matthew and Emma will explore the theme of ‘labouring work’ in the their practice, and how a political meaning might exist in contemporary art that appears to be purely decorative. Tickets: £35 Price includes welcome drink, talk in the Book Shop, and 2 course dinner at the Roth Bar & Grill. Spaces limited.
