Join us for a hands-on Family Studio Workshop that will explore themes of our exhibition ‘Louise Bourgeois. The Red Sky.’ About the Studio For this month’s workshop, families will excavate the visual language of their surroundings – the natural landscape within the Hauser & Wirth garden and the multi-panel works in ‘Louise Bourgeois. The Red Sky’ – to inspire their own expressive paintings. Employing a limited watercolor palette of red and blue, participants will sketch garden plants, organic shapes, and even text to mimic the format of Bourgeois’s work and interest in nature and the body. The workshop will be led by Matt MacFarland. Educators will be available every half hour, beginning at 12.30 pm, to guide children and parents on walkthroughs of ‘Louise Bourgeois. The Red Sky’ to view the works that inspired this month’s project. About ‘Louise Bourgeois. The Red Sky’ ‘The Red Sky’ is an intimate presentation of never before exhibited works on paper from the final years of the artist’s life: six multi-panel works on paper, created between 2007 and 2009, with words and images mining Bourgeois’s central themes of memory, trauma, nature, and the body.
