Internal World: Rebecca Morris in response to Louise Bourgeois

On the occasion of ‘Louise Bourgeois. The Red Sky,’ join us for a discussion of this intimate exhibition led by LA-based painter and professor Rebecca Morris. Through her own exploration of the possibility of shape and color and her deep interest in visual language, Morris will pose questions to the group and share insights about Bourgeois’s highly personal works that metabolize emotions through material and text. Known for her fluid approach to abstraction, Morris has said of her own work ‘the process of painting involves a sense of what one wants in their internal world.’ She was a participant of the 2014 Whitney Biennial, the Hammer’s ‘Made in LA 2016,’ and is the author of ‘Manifesto: For Abstractionists and Friends of the Non-Objective.’ This drop-in event is not ticketed, however, space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-in begins at 1.15 pm at the Information Desk in the Courtyard. About Rebecca Morris Rebecca Morris was born in 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaii and lives in Los Angeles, California. Morris received a BA from Smith College, a MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and attended The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Internationally recognized, Morris has exhibited her work extensively since the mid 1990s. Solo exhibitions include: Mary Boone Gallery, New York NY (2017); 356 S.
