In November of 2022, The Box initiated an Institutional tour of WS White Snow, with curators and leadership from the Getty, MOCA, the Hammer, the Broad, the ICALA, LAND, LAXART, LACMA, and the Lucas Museum. This think tank has resulted in the rapid action of this joint presentation of Paul McCarthy’s WS White Snow, to coincide with Frieze Los Angeles, as a means to garner support for permanent preservation of the work. In Downtown Los Angeles from 16 – 19 February 2023, the location of the presentation is available upon RSVP.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our fourth decade with a constellation of events in Los Angeles—a world city that is both a major American cultural capital and a prime source of inspiration and energy for the gallery since its founding in 1992. To mark the moment, the gallery will debut exhibitions and public programs spanning LA from its Downtown Arts District location in the converted historic Globe Mills complex, to its new space in the heart of West Hollywood.

This fall, do not miss the debut of Hauser & Wirth artists’ new, immersive, and historic work in galleries and museums across Los Angeles, one of the most vibrant art cities in the world. From Mid-City to Downtown, explore spellbinding video installations by Pipilotti Rist, get lost in abstracted sculptural forms by Paul McCarthy, experience new video works by Diana Thater, and witness Amy Sherald’s historic portrait of the first lady Mrs. Michelle Obama, before it travels to its next destination in The Obama Portraits Tour.

We are thrilled to introduce ‘Artists for New York’, a major initiative to raise funds in support of a group of pioneering non-profit visual arts organizations across New York City that have been profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a part of Frieze Projects curated by Ali Subotnick, within the backlot of Paramount Pictures Studios, Paul McCarthy will present ‘Daddies Tomato Ketchup Inflatable’ (2007), a 50-foot high inflatable, alongside a continuous loop screening of ‘Bossy Burger’ (1991). Activating the cinematic setting, Frieze Projects will create a disorienting atmosphere where visitors are in two places at once: an artificial New York City within Los Angeles.

To complement the opening of its new gallery in St. Moritz, Hauser & Wirth has installed a monumental bronze sculpture by Los-Angeles based artist Paul McCarthy by the lake in the grounds of the Hotel Waldhaus am See. Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz is the gallery’s ninth location worldwide (and third in Switzerland), opening on 28 December in the Palace Galerie building with an exhibition by Louise Bourgeois
