ENCOUNTERS: a day of experimental performance and film

  • Sun 28 April 2024
  • 12 – 5 pm

On the occasion of Printed Matter's New York Art Book Fair, Hauser & Wirth Publishers, MACK, and SPBH Editions are pleased to present a day of experimental performance and film, from artists including Teju Cole, Carmen Winant, Stephen Shore, Justine Kurland, RaMell Ross and Vince Aletti. This program will activate the gallery, amphitheater, and bookstore of Hauser & Wirth 18th Street.

A selection of artists curated by MACK and SPBH Editions will participate in a series of twenty-minute performances from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. These will follow a variety of formats from soundscapes to performance, correlating with each artist's respective practice. Following each presentation there will be a book signing onsite in the gallery's Roth Bar installation. In tandem with the performance series, we will have multiple screenings of rare films including the debut feature film by Richard Billingham, two studies of the work of Donald Judd, and a selection of Queer shorts curated by Sam Ashby.

This event is free, however reservations are required.
