Ferren Gipson

Ferren Gipson (b.1986 Jacksonville, AR; lives and works in London, UK) is a British-American art historian, writer and textile artist. Her words can be found across mediums, including her books, ‘The Ultimate Art Museum’ (2021) and ‘Women’s Work’ (2022); articles in the ‘Financial Times’ and WeTransfer’s online magazine ‘WePresent’; and the popular visual arts podcast ‘Art Matters.’

Topics in her research include exploring intersections between art and popular culture, highlighting the work of women artists and political themes in modern Chinese art. Within her textile practice, she explores themes of labor, matrilineal connections, materiality and color. She is currently a doctoral researcher at SOAS, University of London.
