We are pleased to share our fourth Climate Action Report (CIR) with artist-led sustainability platform, Artists Commit, for the exhibition ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG.’ Inspired by the notion of a traditional Kunsthalle, ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’ was a celebration of Hauser & Wirth’s Swiss heritage through a playful presentation of over 20 artists, conceived as a place to showcase groundbreaking art and explore contemporary issues with a broad audience.
On the occasion of his first exhibition ‘That First Rain in May’ at our West Hollywood gallery, artist Angel Otero met with students from Inner-City Arts to discuss his newest composition of work. Through a labor-intensive process of oil painting on plexiglass, then scraping the applied medium into ‘skins’ which he subsequently collages with wet paint onto canvas, Otero has developed a signature mode of expressive storytelling. The artist’s unique approach allows for an active exchange with the medium, inviting chance and unpredictability into his practice.

This printmaking glossary has been produced to accompany the exhibition ‘Rita Ackermann. Splits: Printing | Painting’, on view at Hauser & Wirth, 18th Street through 26 July 2024.
Heralding a significant leap in Ackermann's artistic practice, the seven large-scale silkscreens on view represent a dramatic convergence of the technical processes of printmaking with the artist's sustained exploration of form, movement and erasure. Produced in collaboration with master printer Keigo Takahashi, Ackermann sought to transform paintings into prints, without recourse to the reproduction of a model.
