This Zurich Art Weekend, major solo exhibitions by Philip Guston and Nairy Baghramian open at our Limmatstrasse gallery, with a showcase of selected masterpieces on view in our Bahnhofstrasse space. In collaboration with the Baur au Lac hotel, works by William Kentridge, Martin Creed and Rita Ackermann feature in this year’s edition of ‘Art in the Park.’ Join us on Friday evening for a summer party organized by Hauser & Wirth Publishers in collaboration with our neighboring galleries on Rämistrasse.

Explore Philip Guston’s late figurative works on the second floor of our Limmatstrasse gallery. Curated in collaboration with Musa Mayer, the artist’s daughter and president of The Guston Foundation, the exhibition features well-known paintings alongside never-before exhibited works.

Discover eight new sculptures by Nairy Baghramian under the title ‘Modèle vivant (Se ployant).’ Making reference to the tradition of drawing, painting or sculpting from a live model, as indicated by the series’ title, the Berlin-based artist’s abstract works, as per usual in her practice, grant only approximations of and allusions to the human gestalt.

Opening during Zurich Art Weekend 2024, Hauser & Wirth’s Bahnhofstrasse location will present a showcase of selected masterpieces across painting and sculpture by modern masters from the gallery’s artists and estates and beyond. The presentation includes the work of celebrated 20th century artists, including Hans Arp, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Max Beckmann, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, Barbara Chase-Riboud, Ferdinand Hodler, Maria Lassnig, Agnes Martin, Henry Moore, Georges Vantongerloo and more. Explore Ellen Gallagher’s new painting series ‘Fast-Fish and Loose-Fish’ in our Viewing Rooms. First exhibited during Gallagher’s 2023 solo exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum, these two paintings build on the artist’s shape-shifting symbols informed by and establishing emergent underwater ecosystems.

We look forward to inaugurating our new gallery in Basel at Luftgässlein 4 with the exhibition ‘Vilhelm Hammershøi. Silence.’ Curated by art historian Felix Krämer, a leading expert on Hammershøi, it is the first ever solo exhibition of the celebrated 19th-century Danish artist in Switzerland, bringing together 18 works from private collections, some of which have rarely been exhibited before. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday 1 June, 4 – 7 pm.
