First-time participation in Tai Kwun’s BOOKED: Hong Kong Art Book Fair

Publishing has been a cornerstone of our activity since the gallery’s founding in 1992. In keeping with our artist-centric vision, the imprint Hauser & Wirth Publishers works to bring readers into the universe of artists and behind the scenes of their practices.
‘The process of making a book is in many ways comparable to creating an exhibition. In both, we try to provide artists with the instruments necessary to make concrete their ideas.’
Iwan Wirth, President, Hauser & Wirth
At BOOKED, Hauser & Wirth Publishers brings together a selection of publications that celebrate the practice and voice of the artist. New releases include ‘Mark Bradford: Process Collettivo’ (2024), ‘Glenn Ligon. Distinguishing Piss from Rain; Writings and Interviews’ (2024) and ‘Eva Hesse: Exhibitions, 1972–2022’ (2024).
Sought-after highlights ‘Cindy Sherman: 2023’ (2023), ‘Philip Guston. Night Studio’ (2023), ‘Louise Bourgeois & Pablo Picasso: Anatomies of Desire’ (2019) are available at the fair, alongside artist writings such as ‘Eva Hesse. Diaries’ (2020), and the recently released artist‘s book ‘Nicole Eisenman: Maker’s Muck’ (2024), released in both a special and a trade edition.
‘At Hauser & Wirth, books have always been understood as critical gateways to new ways of thinking and seeing. They provide vital, lasting records of artists’ works, ideas and the discourse they inspire. With the special access granted by artists to their writings and archives, we are in a unique position to bring new and overlooked aspects of an artist’s creative practice into focus.’
Michaela Unterdörfer, Executive Director, Hauser & Wirth Publishers
Classic titles include ‘Beyond the Town. Conversations of Art and Land’ (2018), documenting the realization of Hauser & Wirth Somerset in 2014, which transformed Durslade Farm into a first-of-its-kind international art center, through Iwan and Manuela Wirth’s vision. ‘The Inner Mirror. Conversations with Ursula Hauser, Art Collector’ (2019) presents the first-ever extensive and intimate account of Hauser & Wirth co-founder Ursula Hauser’s life and art collection.
Additionally, Hauser & Wirth Publishers publishes Ursula, an award-winning magazine featuring essays, profiles, interviews, new fiction, poetry, original portfolios and photography by some of the most thought-provoking writers and artists in the world.
Hauser & Wirth Publishers’ publishing activities steadily flourished through partnerships with imprints such as Hatje Cantz, JRP|Ringier, Snoeck, Steidl, Thames & Hudson, and Yale University Press before the establishment of Hauser & Wirth Publishers, with headquarters in New York and Zurich. The publications are currently distributed worldwide via Distributed Art Publishers, Thames & Hudson, Interart and Buchhandlung Walther König.
