Opening Reception: ‘Hot Water for Tea’ and ‘Beauty Lies Within’

Join us to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions at Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset: ‘Hot Water for Tea’ featuring Craig Bamford (SASA Works), Samuel Chatto, Florian Gadsby, Akiko Hirai and Matthew Warner, and ‘Beauty Lies Within’ featuring Jane Yang-D’Haene.

Tickets are free and include a welcome drink, but advance booking is recommended.

About ‘Hot Water for Tea’
‘Hot Water for Tea’ celebrates the form and function of vessels that are central to the universal enjoyment of quotidian, domestic ritual. The exhibition also draws focus to the table, a place of gathering and community—the convivial heart of the home. Featuring artist-makers Craig Bamford (SASA Works), Samuel Chatto, Florian Gadsby, Akiko Hirai and Matthew Warner.

About ‘Beauty Lies Within’
Rooted firmly in the tradition of 달항아리—dalhangari, or moon jars—‘Beauty Lies Within’ presents works by ceramic artist, Jane Yang-D’Haene, exploring her earliest recollections of the Korean landscape, her birthplace. Creating new visions of place and self through abstraction and experimentation, Yang-D’Haene’s new body of work expands on her earliest influences and extends across the arc of her lived experience, cultural identity and creative practice. She seeks to transform the emotional experience of memory into the physical.

Both exhibitions will be on view at Make Hauser & Wirth Somerset from Sunday 26 May through Sunday 28 July 2024.
