In celebration of London Art Gallery Weekend and the exhibition ‘Luchita Hurtado,’ Hauser & Wirth London invites families to take part in an interactive activity.
Our Family Saturday takes its inspiration from Luchita Hurtado, who explored themes of language and nature with her work, focusing on the planet, natural elements, and the environment in recognition of the urgency of the ecological crisis.
This event is free, however please book a ticket per person in advance. Please note that there may be a short wait if the activity is full upon arrival.
Family Saturdays are aimed at families with children aged 6 – 14 years. Younger children are welcome if supervised by parents or carers.
‘Luchita Hurtado’ is open until 30 July 2022.
Featuring previously unseen works, this exhibition centres on Luchita Hurtado’s Sky Skin canvases. Beginning in the mid-1970s, Hurtado’s gaze turned upwards, inverting the downward-facing perspective of her earlier I Am paintings. A selection of drawing merge the series, as the breast, stomach and knee viewed from a down-cast angle transform into rolling mountains in a continuation of the artist’s’ imaginative and deceptive experimentation with figurative landscapes.
