This month's workshop brings together music and abstraction, exploring the question 'how do I paint a song?' Fusing the pop cultural spontaneity and Minimalist geometry of Mary Heilmann’s abstract compositions on view in ‘Mary Heilmann. Memory Remix,’ participants will create a finger painting on irregularly-shaped neon board based on their favorite song. The workshop will be led by Matt MacFarland. Educators will be available every half hour, beginning at 12.30 pm, to guide children and parents on walkthroughs of ‘Mary Heilmann. Memory Remix’ to view the works that inspired this month’s project. About ‘Mary Heilmann. Memory Remix’ ‘Memory Remix,’ Mary Heilmann’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition in over 20 years, is a survey of paintings, ceramics, and furniture in which the artist’s unwavering dedication to abstraction merges with sly references to her favorite landscapes, songs, movies, and Mexican weavings. This event is free, however, reservations are recommended. Click here to register. Photo: Noé Montes
