Based in Menorca, this role focuses on developing and delivering successful marketing and communications strategies for Hauser & Wirth Menorca in order to attract a broad local and global audience to the art center, along with selected global projects throughout the year. The role is very hands on and will include managing every aspect of marketing and communications campaigns—from developing media contacts and writing press releases to writing website, email or advertising copy, as well as creating a media plan liaising with designers and organizing press visits and tours.
You will be working in a fast and dynamic environment as a member of the local team based in Menorca and as a manager and mentor to the Marketing Coordinator. You will also work closely with the Marketing and Communications team at Hauser & Wirth in London and Zurich and international colleagues. Previous experience in an arts organization or PR agency is preferable as is a good understanding of the international artworld.
We are looking for a proactive, flexible, creative and hands-on person who enjoys working in a team within a fast-paced and dynamic environment and has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an equivalent role. Meticulous attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and prioritize a varied workload.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead and execute PR and marketing campaigns for Hauser & Wirth’s exhibitions and projects in Menorca and selected global projects formulating the strategy/media plan, preparing materials, identifying targets and securing coverage and placements.
Set and manage communications and marketing plans, budgets and timelines.
Manage and mentor junior members of the team including Marketing Coordinator.
Evaluate campaigns in line with projects objectives and ensure communications and marketing objectives and targets are met/exceeded by monitoring effectiveness during campaigns and developing contingency strategies or adjusting plans as required.
Communications:
Manage and implement publicity campaigns securing local and international media coverage.
Prepare and oversee communications materials including exhibition announcements, press packs, press releases, media alerts, image links etc. for review and approval by Senior Director, Global Comms.
Draft media briefings and FAQs where appropriate.
Oversee approval process for above mentioned communications texts.
Design and format press texts using InDesign.
Oversee logistics for press previews.
Liaise with Spanish and international PR agencies to deliver campaigns.
Act as an ambassador for the gallery in public events including presenting tours as needed with press and key stakeholders.
Respond to incoming press enquiries for images and gallery profiles.
Monitor press coverage and request corrections where appropriate.
Develop and maintain press contacts database.
Coordinate and lead journalist visits, press tours, photographers and film crew visits on site.
Lead all marketing and communications for public programming, events, learning and residencies in Menorca and Monaco, including press, content and marketing.
Marketing:
Devise, manage and implement the marketing strategy for Hauser & Wirth Menorca, in collaboration with Senior Director Marketing Europe, as well as other marketing campaigns for Hauser & Wirth locations or programming in Europe as required.
Plan and manage an effective, measurable programme of marketing activity including identifying target audiences and creating and delivering campaigns which include (but are not limited to) website content, email marketing, social media (organic and paid), advertising, partnerships, promotions and print.
Develop creative and evidence-based marketing initiatives.
Ensure marketing objectives and targets are met/exceeded by monitoring effectiveness during campaigns and developing contingency strategies or adjusting plans if required.
Manage the marketing budget for Menorca, following business procedures, monitoring expenditure and obtaining best value in collaboration with Senior Director Marketing, EU.
Maintain and update the content of Hauser & Wirth Menorca, and other locations and projects as required, on www.hauserwirth.com.
Manage the continued development of the custom Menorca ticketing system, liaising with local developers, the finance and Front Desk teams in Menorca, and the Digital Product team.
Manage/oversight of the gallery’s Menorca social media accounts, including planning and scheduling posts in collaboration with global social media team, collating assets, writing and translating copy, posting, monitoring analytics.
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
Educated to degree level, preferably in arts or humanities subject (BA required).
Essential: Fluency in Spanish, Catalan and English languages, both written and spoken. Further languages beneficial: Italian, French.
A strong interest and related experience in the field of contemporary art and culture.
Experience of managing, devising, implementing and evaluating effective marketing and PR campaigns.
Excellent communication skills, as well as analytical organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with a high level of accuracy.
An understanding of the media landscape, an existing network of contacts and the ability to develop new press contacts.
Proficient negotiation skills, and the ability to achieve consensus among a number of different stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners, in different global locations, developing and sustaining effective working relationships.
Ability to work positively and calmly as part of a team whilst demonstrating leadership skills in mentoring.
Experience of digital marketing including programmatic advertising, content marketing, SEM, SEO and e-CRM.
Proficient in Adobe CS5, particularly Photoshop and InDesign (essential), working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Mac OSX.
Experience of working in an international company is preferred.
Relevant experience of analysing statistics and other research findings to inform and develop campaigns.
Demonstrable experience of managing budgets, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
