Join us for a tour of ‘Matthew Day Jackson. Pathetic Fallacy’ and ‘Catherine Goodman. Eve’ led by Hauser & Wirth Somerset Senior Director, Alice Workman. The walking tour will lead guests through the galleries and Cloister Courtyard whilst discussing significant works in the exhibition. ‘Pathetic Fallacy’ is an exhibition by Matthew Day Jackson, which consists of works conceived during his time as artist-in-residence at Hauser & Wirth Somerset from August 2018 until January 2019. The exhibition is presented in a range of mediums including: painting, drawing, sculpture, furniture, and installation. Occupying the Threshing Barn, Workshop and Pigsty galleries is an exhibition of new paintings by London and Somerset based artist Catherine Goodman. Goodman was artist-in-residence at Hauser & Wirth Somerset from January to May 2018 and many of the works in the exhibition were made during her residency. Her practice includes expressionistic landscapes, vigorous sketches, experimental collages and portraits; central to her process is the act of drawing from observation, whether from life, objects or the great masters and their works. The exhibition is titled ‘Eve’ and the majority of works are vibrant, colourful, landscape based paintings. The tour runs from 5 – 6 pm at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. This is a free event, but must be booked in advance.
On Friday 26 April we are hosting three different events, all exploring the artist’s creative process. Spend the day at Hauser & Wirth Somerset and join us for all three, or drop in for one.
