The film centers around conversations between the director, Cosima, and her grandmother, Mougouch. The family has been shaped by the legacy left by Cosima's grandfather: The Abstract Expressionist painter Arshile Gorky, who escaped the Armenian genocide and worked as an artist in New York in the 1930s. The film gives personal insight into the artist's daily struggles and tragedies.
