Moderated by Ying Yue Li, Director of Hauser & Wirth, Hong Kong, this conversation joined by Tobias Berger, Director of Tai Kwun, and Anqi Li, author of ‘Mike Kelley’s “Home”,’ will introduce the splendid oeuvre of Mike Kelley to the Hong Kong audience, delve deep into the late artist’s renowned series ‘Kandors,’ and reveal his critiques on popular culture with his empathy for shared traumas that connect us all.

Tobias Berger is Curator at Large at Tai Kwun, leading Tai Kwun Contemporary, the contemporary art program of the Art and Heritage revitalization development in the former Police Station complex in Hong Kong. After graduating in art history and economics from the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, Tobias Berger worked as a Curator at the Museum Fridericianum in Kassel, Germany. He was the Artistic Director of the 8th Baltic Triennial of International Art in Vilnius, Lithuania and the Director of ARTSPACE NZ in Auckland, New Zealand. From 2005 to 2008, he was the Executive Director of Para Site Art Space in Hong Kong. From 2008 to 2010, Berger served as the Chief Curator at the Nam June Paik Art Center in Seoul, South Korea, and from 2010 to 2015 he was Curator of Visual Arts at the M+ Museum in Hong Kong.

Anqi Li is a researcher, writer, and curator of contemporary art. She is currently a PhD student in museum studies and cultural policy at the University of Hong Kong. Previously she was Curator of Education and Public Programs at Hong Kong’s independent art space Para Site. She writes for Artforum, ArtAsiaPacific, Wallpaper, Initium Media, and ARTouchamong press. Li holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from San Francisco Art Institute and a Masterof Education degree in Arts in Education from Harvard University.
