GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG Education Lab: Collaborative Environmental Manifesto Making

  • Tue 28 November 2023 – Mon 1 January 2024
  • 10am – 4pm

Drop-in to our Education Lab ‘Turning the Inside Outside: Sustainable Actions in the Art World’ to contribute to a collaborative environmental manifesto as part of our ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’ exhibition at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.

Taking action on environmental sustainability, global justice and ecological awareness is a collective responsibility. Our Education Lab initiative ‘Write the Wrong’ takes inspiration from the practice of artist Mika Rottenberg and her video installation ‘Cosmic Generator (Loaded #2)’ (2017-2018), which prompts us to consider our relationships to globalization, mass consumption, our lived environments and each other.

We invite you to make space for acknowledging, listening, learning and sharing your feelings of what the world could look like if we all nurtured it better via a collaborative environmental manifesto. Recycled collage materials will be available to add to this ongoing manifesto, where you can express your hopes and visions of our shared future.

This project will continue to grow throughout the duration of our Education Lab, which is open to the public, Tuesday – Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm through Monday 1 January 2024.

This free activity is open to all, with no advance booking necessary. However, please be aware that access may be limited on certain dates and times depending on our wider events programming.

About ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’
GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG is a multidisciplinary exhibition is inspired by the notion of a traditional Kunsthalle, conceived as a place to showcase groundbreaking art and explore contemporary issues with a broad audience. The entire site takeover provides a platform for discovery and interaction, extending to all five galleries, outdoor sculpture and a collaborative events program with the Roth Bar & Grill. The exhibition will evolve in three parts over the course of seven months, featuring immersive installations, solo presentations and iconic video works. Alongside the exhibition, the Education Lab takes its starting point from Mika Rottenberg and Pipilotti Rist’s commitment to environmentally sustainable creative practices, developed by the gallery’s green teams globally.

GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’ is on view at Hauser & Wirth Somerset through Monday 1 January 2024.
