Opening Reception: Ed Clark | Fausto Melotti

  • Tue 18 January 2022
  • 10am – 6pm

Join us for the opening reception of our brand new exhibitions ‘Ed Clark. Without a Doubt’ and ‘Fausto Melotti. Theatre’ at Hauser & Wirth London.

Ed Clark pushed the boundaries of abstraction beyond expressionism, with a focus on materiality, form and colour. This exhibition is the artist’s first ever solo presentation in the UK, spanning three decades of his career from the 1970s to 1990s. It provides insight into Clark’s breakthroughs in abstract painting and the shift from controlled horizontal brushstrokes to a more loose and assertive style.

A selection of sculptures, ceramic pieces and works on paper by Italian sculptor, painter and poet Fausto Melotti are displayed for the first time. Curated by Saim Demircan, the exhibition places an emphasis on the theatrical within Melotti’s practice and includes works spanning four decades from the 1940s to 1980s.

‘Ed Clark. Without a Doubt’ and ‘Fausto Melotti. Theatre’ are open until 20 April 2022.
