Jenny Holzer’s art questions our perceptions and the way we are influenced by media and politics. She shows us how everyday visual and textual stimuli can unknowingly seduce and manipulate us. Claudia Müller’s film follows the artist over a decade at work, making Holzer’s art tangible as it traces her career, from a young artist putting up posters in New York in the late 1970’s to one of the most influential female artists of today. CinemArt is a film series presented by Hauser & Wirth in collaboration with the Cinéma Rex in Pontresina. A special programme open to the public will offer unique insights into the lives and work of significant international contemporary and modern artists, including a selection connected to Hauser & Wirth’s roster. This cinematic programme is centred around Hauser & Wirth St. Moritz’s current exhibition ‘Material Actions’ and will primarily focus on female artists from the exhibition, such as Ida Applebroog and Jenny Holzer. Other featured artists and well-known personalities from the art world include Eva Hesse and Peggy Guggenheim.
