Private View: ‘Rashid Johnson. Stranger’

  • Fri 26 May 2017
  • 6 – 8pm

Please join us for a private view to celebrate the opening of ‘Rashid Johnson. Stranger’, the culmination of Johnson’s residency in Bruton. Johnson is best known for his painting, film, sculpture and photography, using a wide range of materials and appropriated objects to explore themes of art history, literature, philosophy, and personal and cultural identity. His exhibition at Hauser & Wirth Somerset will unfold through all five gallery-spaces, with a combination of painting, sculpture, installation and drawing, much of which is inspired by, and has been created during his residency. At 7 pm we are delighted to host a rare live music performance by the artist Rodney Graham with David Carswel, celebrating Graham’s latest album ‘Gondoliers’. View event.
