About the Facilitators

Edie Evans
Edie Evans embraces an ethical approach, venturing beyond traditional materials to explore found objects, gathered materials and natural processes. She develops a dialogue between place, material and herself as the maker through the collaborative transformation of raw materials, gaining a unique understanding of the past, deep time and our current place in the world.

Copper Sounds
Copper Sounds are an artist duo who use traditional and contemporary processes to explore the physical and visual nature of sound. They see sound as a malleable material and have a unique way of working with and manipulating sound, through designing and making sonic objects which they play live.

Holly Le Var
Holly Le Var is an artist, designer and printmaker. Her work stems from a background in spatial practice, in which she utilizes space as a vehicle and resource for engagement, performance and play.

About Education Lab: ‘Open Art School’
In conjunction with the exhibition, Hauser & Wirth Learning has launched a new Education Lab, ‘Open Art School’, in partnership with Bath Spa University. Taking Barlow’s life-long engagement with arts education and notably her ethos of there being ‘no right or wrong way’ to be creative, the Education Lab draws on the latest thinking within creative pedagogy and experimental learning. ‘Open Art School’ provides an interactive space for new ideas, experiments and working methods, inviting a multitude of voices and communities to engage through making.

About ‘Phyllida Barlow. unscripted’
The work of Phyllida Barlow (1944 – 2023) takes over Hauser & Wirth Somerset in a celebration of the British artist’s transformative approach to sculpture, marking the 10th anniversary of the arts center that was inaugurated by Barlow’s solo exhibition ‘GIG’ in 2014. The landmark exhibition, curated by Frances Morris, draws on her close working relationship with the artist during her lifetime. ‘Phyllida Barlow. unscripted’ explores the evolution of Barlow’s formal and expressive vocabulary, bringing together singular sculptures, installations, studio maquettes and drawings from her extensive career, some of which will be on public view for the first time. The exhibition will be on view through Sunday 5 January 2025.

Please be advised that photography and filming will take place at this event for use on the Hauser & Wirth website, social media and in other marketing materials.
